DAY 1:
Set off either from Kampala or Entebbe to Kasese. O/N Kasese Town.
DAY 2: NYAKALENGIZA-NYAMITABA HUT.
After
breakfast; depart to the park headquarter at Nyakalengiza, the foot of
the mountain. Here there will be briefings and the allocations of
porters /guides; before trekking to the Nyamitaba hut. En-route to the
Nyamitaba hut expect to see Chimpanzees, Colobus Monkey and birds
species especially Rwenzori Turaco. O/N Nyamitaba hut.
DAY 3: NYAMITABA HUT-JOHN MATTE HUT
After heavy
breakfast trekking towards Westward between river Bujuku and Mubuku
along the Kurt Shaffer bridge an elevation of about 3000m for about 7
hours. O/N John Matte hut.
DAY 4:JOHN MATTE HUT-LAKE BUJUKU HUT
Early morning, depart to Bujuku while jumping, tussock- tussock grasslands. O/N Lake Bujuku hut.An elevation of 1800m for about 4 hours.
DAY 5: LAKE BUJUKU HUT-ELENA HUT.This trek leads you to the last hut before the peak.At an elevation of about 4900m for about 4 hrs O/N Elena’s hut.
DAY 6: ELENA HUT-MARGHERITA PEAK
Mornings climb
to Margherita peak, the highest within Rwenzori mountain reaching of
5109ft this challenging adventure involving climbing on glaciers
elevation of about 200m, rest for a while as you are taking photographs
then slope to lake Kitandara hut for O/N .
DAY 7: KITANDARA HUT- GUY YEAMAN HUT
Set off early morning for the steep and long trek to Guy Yeaman hut for O/N.
Day 8: GUY YEAMAN HUT –NYABITABA HUT Continue descending towards the starting point (Nyabitaba hut) for an O/N.
DAY 9: NYABITABA HUT-KASESE TOWN
Leave Nyabitaba
hut in the morning heading to Kasese town for lunch and shopping
(arts and crafts) then continuing to Kampala/Entebbe for O/N.
DAY 10:
City tour accompanied by brief shopping in Kampala City before you catch your flight back home.
